IVM IN THE SPOTLIGHT
IVM report provides ammunition to opponents of new infrastructure in Limburg
A recent report by IVM professors Jeroen Aerts and Wouter Botzen concluded that a planned 4 m wide asphalted cycling route in the south of the Dutch province of Limburg (from Maastricht to Aachen) would have negative impacts on nature, whereas its usefulness and benefits were not firmly underpinned. The report was used by local interest groups opposing the investment, and was covered by several regional newspapers such as De Limburger and the Aachener Nachrichten.
