Model-Supported Monitoring of SPM (MoS2), 2009 - 2011

This project is an extension of the collaboration of IVM and Deltares to support the Port of Rotterdam (PoR) with assessment of t0 and t1 Suspended Particulate Matter (SPM) conditions in the Dutch coastal waters using satellite remote sensing, in situ data and data-assimilation into numerical models. It comprises the follow-up of the TnulTSM project in which Suspended Particulate Matter (SPM) concentrations in 2003 were assimilated. See  IVM Newsletter September 2008 for more information

Together with the Deltares partners Meinte Blaas and Ghada el Serafy, Marieke Eleveld also coordinated the publication: El Serafy, G.Y., Eleveld M.A., Blaas, M., van Kessel, T., Gaytan Aguilar, S., van der Woerd, H.J., 2011. Improving the description of the suspended particulate matter concentrations in the southern North Sea through assimilating remotely sensed data. Ocean Science Journal 46(3): 179-204. doi: 10.1007/s12601-011-0015-x.
