Summary

IVM is getting involved in an increasing number of large European projects. For example, the now seventh Framework Programme of the EU gives researchers a lot of possibilities to work with scientists from all over Europe on applied and integrating research projects. Acquisition and project management of these projects are often complicated and time consuming, especially with respect to administrative matters and contract negotiations. I work at IVM to help researchers with acquisition and project management of EU projects.

I have a coordinator role for general matters of IVM EU projects. Therefore, I work together with the Financial Administration, TTO VU, EU office FALW, Subsidy desk VU, AgentschapNL, EG-liaison etc. I also do project management for large collaborative EU projects that are coordinated at IVM. I inform researchers of FP calls, tenders, EU project related meetings and news that affects IVM EU projects. Furthermore, I standardize acquisition steps and following procedures and supply researchers with start documents for EU projects. Last, I give advice for writing a proposal, partner search, and contract negotiations.

Expertise

With a background as scientific researcher and working experience as project manager, I have found a way to combine these experiences. I advise scientific researchers where and how to apply for funding. Writing a good project proposal and bringing in the funding is only just the beginning. Therefore, I also use my project management experience to work together with scientific researchers to ensure good project progress and deliver applicable results that make the sponsor (European Commission) very satisfied.

My competences are: project management, result driven, strong analytical and organizing skills, coordination, teamwork, advising and communication, entrepreneurship and funds raising.
