Summary
Marjan Hofkes is full professor of Environmental Economics and full professor of Economics of Sustainable Development at the VU University Amsterdam. In her capacity as head of the Department of Environmental Economics of the Institute for Environmental Studies (IVM) she has direct management responsibility for about 20 research staff.
Professor Hofkes has extensive research and research management experience across a number of fields, including economic modelling, economic growth, endogenous technology and transitions, labour market economics and income policy, ranging from pure academic to policy supporting research. In 1991 she received her PhD in mathematical economics. Her more recent work has been concerned with economics of sustainable development and environment-economy trade-offs.
Among other advisory roles Professor Hofkes is a member of the Committee on Sustainable Development of the Social and Economic Council of the Netherlands (SER). Furthermore, she is a member of the editorial board of TPEdigitaal, a Dutch electronic journal on political economy.
