Ana M. Ballesteros is scientist in Analytical Chemistry and her research has been mainly focused on method development for the analysis of trace organic contaminants. She did her PhD studies at the Supramolecular Analytical Chemistry Research Group in Córdoba (Spain) on the use of supramolecular solvents made up of surfactant aggregates (micelles, vesicles) and adsorbents based on magnetic nanoparticles for simplifying analytical extraction processes. Later, she worked as postdoc researcher at IVM (2012-2014) with the ITN Marie Curie project INFLAME (Indoor Contamination with Flame Retardant Chemicals: Causes and Impacts) in the development of novel analytical methods for the analysis/identification of flame retardants (two dimensional GC, ambient mass spectrometry, high resolution mass spectrometry, HRMS). She also worked as postdoc at the University of Antwerp in Belgium (2014) investigating the in-vitro metabolism of phosphorus flame retardants. Finally, she was granted a NWO VENI in chemical sciences and in November 2014 she started her project based on the analysis of contaminants in house products by mainly ambient mass spectrometry and high resolution MS.
