- PhD researcher
Samantha Scholte has been employed as a PhD researcher at IVM since April 2013. Under supervision of Prof. dr. P.H. Verburg and dr. A.J.A. van Teeffelen, she will investigate socio-cultural values of ecosystem services. Her aim is to integrate socio-cultural perspectives into ecosystem service valuations, by gaining insights into determinants of socio-cultural values of ecosystem services and further developing ecosystem service valuation methodologies. Her research is part of the Operational Potential of Ecosystem Research Applications (OPERAs) project.
Prior to starting at IVM, Samantha completed an MSc in Environment and Resource Management and an MSc in Earth Sciences. Having an interdisciplinary background, she developed a strong interest in human-environment relationships. Her interest in public perception and communication of environmental problems lead to a thesis about newspaper frames of climate engineering.
