Bianca van der Kroon is an Assistant Professor in the department of Environmental Economics of IVM Institute for Environmental Studies at the VU University Amsterdam. She has a background in International Development Economics from Wageningen University with a particular focus on rural development. Her MSc thesis addressed the market participation behaviour of smallholder farmers in Savelugu-Nanton, Ghana using an asset-based approach. Currently, Bianca is working on her PhD project, which looks at behaviour of households in Africa with respect to adopting renewable energy technologies. This project is part of the IS- Academy on renewable energy in Africa.
