Policy Brief on Earth System Governance recommends reform of environmental governance.

The Earth System Governance Project with Prof.dr. Frank Biermann as chair, is glad to release its new comprehensive Policy Brief Transforming Governance and Institutions for a Planet under Pressure. Revitalizing the Institutional Framework for Global Sustainability.

This Policy Brief, recommending a reform of environmental governance from from local to global scale, was released by the Planet under Pressure consortium in Durban, Wednesday 23 November. The four other Briefs that were released, deal with biodiversity and ecosystem services, food and water security, and interconnected risks and solutions.

This Policy Brief is one of nine policy briefs produced by the scientific community, commissioned by the four Global Change Research Programmes (IHDP, IGBP, Diversitas and WCRP). The Global Change Research Programmes have organised the International Conference Planet under Pressure: New Knowledge Towards Solutions on 26-29 March 2012 in London (www.planetunderpressure2012.net).
