Exposure assessment
Exposure assessment
Exposure Assessment covers the determination and monitoring of priority compounds, emerging pollutants and their metabolites. Analytical tools are developed for the determination of these compounds. IVM has specialised in the analysis of organotins, hormones, brominated flame retardants and perfluorinated compounds. The results of exposure studies are, in combination with toxicological results, used for environmental and human risk assessments, and to validate exposure models. Effect-directed analysis is another approach in exposure assessment, in which analytical techniques are used in the identification of compounds that show an effect in various bioassays. Examples of projects in which exposure assessment plays an important role are: Modelkey, Decamonitor, SchipFos. Contact information: Dr. Marja Lamoree.
